Accessibility Statement

Our Commitment

Hideaway Pacific Beach is committed to making hideawaypb.com accessible to everyone, including people with disabilities. We believe every guest deserves a welcoming, usable, and enjoyable digital experience, and we work continually to improve the accessibility of our Site.

Standards We Follow

We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 Level AA, published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). These guidelines describe how to make web content more accessible to people with a wide range of disabilities, including visual, auditory, cognitive, and motor impairments.

We also strive to comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and California’s Unruh Civil Rights Act.

Current Accessibility Features

The following features are currently implemented on our Site:

  • Skip to main content. A skip link at the top of every page lets keyboard users bypass the navigation and move directly to the page content.
  • Visible keyboard focus indicators. Interactive elements display a high-visibility outline when they receive keyboard focus.
  • Keyboard-operable menus. Dropdown menus open with Enter or Space, move focus into the submenu, and close with the Escape key, returning focus to the menu item you started from.
  • Mobile menu state announcements. The mobile navigation toggle reports its expanded or collapsed state to screen readers and closes with the Escape key.
  • Descriptive link names. Links are given accessible names that describe their destination, including our social media and reservation links.
  • Landmark regions. Navigation, main content, and footer regions are marked up as landmarks with distinguishing names, so screen-reader users can jump between sections of a page.
  • Logical heading structure. Each page uses a single top-level heading with a consistent heading hierarchy beneath it.
  • Text alternatives for images. Meaningful images carry descriptive alternative text, and decorative images are marked so screen readers skip them.
  • Accessible phone and email links. Telephone and email links announce their purpose rather than reading out raw numbers or addresses.
  • Keyboard-accessible scroll-to-top control. The scroll-to-top button is reachable by keyboard, activates with Enter or Space, and moves focus predictably.
  • Zoom is not blocked. Our pages do not disable pinch-to-zoom or scaling on mobile devices.

Compliance Status

Our Site is reviewed against WCAG 2.2 Level AA using a combination of automated testing tools and manual testing, including keyboard-only navigation. Accessibility is an ongoing practice for us rather than a one-time project: we re-evaluate the Site on a regular basis, and we prioritize and address issues identified through testing or guest feedback in our regular updates.

Third-Party Services

Some services we link to are operated by other companies rather than by us — including our reservation platform, our delivery and pickup platform, our gift card provider, and our separate merchandise store. Once you follow a link to one of those services, that provider’s own site and accessibility practices apply. If you encounter a barrier on one of those services, please contact us using the details below and we will help you complete what you were trying to do and raise the issue with the provider.

Alternative Access Options

If you have trouble accessing any part of our Site, please contact us and we will work with you to provide the information you need in another format. That includes making a reservation for you, answering questions about our menu, arranging an order, or relaying the contents of any page you are unable to use.
